In the WordPress CMS a plugin is anything else you install onto your site besides a theme. It can range from a simple contact form to a shopping cart system with payment methods even added via plugins.

We have yet to come across a plugin that we couldn’t modify, ranging from simple text changes, to shipping/tax rules for WooCommerce and more.
